A refreshing Tropical Matcha Smoothie bowl made with pineapple, frozen banana and energizing matcha tea. A delicious breakfast or mid-day snack.
There is something incredibly refreshing about smoothie bowls. I think it’s because they remind me of ice cream without all the refined sugars AND it is acceptable to eat them for breakfast.
Win, win
Smoothie bowls make for a great snack or treat and the addition of matcha to the smoothie gives you an extra boost of energy for your day.
This smoothie bowl is packed full of tropical flavors that come from the frozen pineapple and banana. YUM!
So let’s get blending.
Ingredients & What you need to make Tropical Matcha Smoothie Bowl
Frozen Banana: is one of the base components for this smoothie bowl. It not only adds flavor but creaminess to this smoothie bowl.
Non-dairy milk: You can use any of your favorite non-dairy milk for this recipe. I usually prefer coconut or oat milk.
Frozen Pineapple Chunks: is the tropical flare in this matcha smoothie bowl. It pairs perfectly with the green tea and banana flavor.
Matcha Green Tea Powder: is one of the main flavors in this smoothie bowl and what gives it the bright green color. Matcha is a type of green tea full of antioxidants and caffeine.
How to Make Matcha Smoothie Bowl with Pineapple
- Making a matcha smoothie bowl is incredibly simple. You want to add the frozen pineapple, banana, milk and matcha to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
- The mixture should be thick but if it isn’t thick enough you can add some ice.
- Pour the matcha smoothie into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings.
- I like to top this matcha bowl with mango, raspberry, chia seeds and granola.
Achieving a thick smoothie bowl has to do with your ratio of frozen fruit to milk. You don’t want to put as much liquid in smoothie bowls. If you find that your smoothie bowl is not thick enough you can add more frozen fruit or ice.
Ceremonial grade matcha is what I recommend. Even in simple recipes like a smoothie bowl because the flavor comes through so strong. I rarely enjoy using culinary grade matcha. I buy mine off Thrive Market most the time or Amazon has a myriad of choices.
The smoothie bowl toppings are endless. You can add fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, nut butters etc. I chose to enhance the tropical flavors of this recipe and include mango and raspberry. Feel free to get creative and include your favorite toppings.

This looks absolutely amazing, no further words are needed. I planted some raspberries in my garden last year, so once they start to give some fruits this year, I’m definitely trying to make this smoothie bowl.
