You guys know that I am a huge fan of all types of waffles! But I also have a deep love for apple cider doughnuts so I decided to blend my love for both together to create these incredibly delicious gluten free Apple Cider Buckwheat Waffles.
They are slightly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and packed full of flavor. You can’t ask for anything more delicious in my opinion!

Ingredients for Gluten Free Apple Cider Buckwheat Waffles
Apple Cider
- Cider adds both a sweet and full-bodied spice to these gluten free buckwheat waffles. You can whatever cider is your personal favorite.
Buckwheat Flour
- I love using buckwheat flour because it is a very affordable option for a grain-free and gluten-free flour. Did you know that buckwheat is actually a fruit? It has a complex and rich nutty flavor profile that creates the perfect waffle!
Arrowroot Flour
- Is a starch that helps lighten the batter, so they don’t become too dense. If you don’t have arrowroot flour you can substitute tapioca flour.
Apples
- I like to use either a honeycrisp or pink lady apple for these gluten-free waffles. However, you can use whatever your favorite type of apple is.
How to Make Gluten Free Apple Cider Buckwheat Waffles
- First, add the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix to combine.
- Secondly, add all the wet ingredients to a bowl and mix.
- Next, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients in the large bowl and stir fully to combine.
- Follow the manufacturers instructions on your waffle maker to cook waffles.
- While you are cooking the gluten free apple cider buckwheat waffles, heat a saucepan to medium heat and add the apples and cinnamon. Cook until apples are softened. Approximately 10-15 minutes.

- 1 ¼ cup buckwheat flour
- ¾ cup arrowroot flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- ¼ cup avocado oil
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 ¼ cup apple cider
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Apples
- 2 cups apples, chopped
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine all of the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Combine all of the wet ingredients in a bowl and whisk to combine.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk to combine.
- Follow the manufacturers instructions for your waffle maker.
- Heat a skillet to medium heat and add the apples, butter and cinnamon. Cook until apples are softened. Approximately 10-15 minutes.
