This recipe was created for my Dinner Party post. There is a lot to be said for a well-crafted cocktail with fresh squeezed juices and homemade simply syrups.
This cocktail is not only beautiful but also bursting with complex flavors that leave your pallet singing.

Spiced Pineapple and Cilantro Margarita

Orange Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- ½ Cup filtered water
- ½ Cup sugar
- Zest of one orange
Cocktail
- 2 oz. Broker’s Gin
- ¼ oz. Chartreuse
- ½ oz. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
- ½ oz. Pomegranate juice
- ½ oz. Orange simple syrup
Special Tools
- Boston Shaker
- Strainer
- Coupe Glass
Instructions
Orange Simple Syrup
- Heat the water on the stove and pour in to a large Pyrex measuring cup.
- Add half a cup of sugar and the zest of one whole orange using a Microplane zester.
- Stir until all sugar is dissolved and let it infuse with the zest for approximately forty minutes.
- After the time has elapsed strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.
Cocktail
- Fill half of the boston shaker with ice and then combine gin, chartreuse, lemon, pomegranate and orange simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Strain drink into two coupe glasses.
- Use a Y peeler to peel two large strips of lemon zest off a clean lemon.
- Pinch one piece of lemon zest over each coupe glass to express the lemon oil over the surface of the drink, then twist and place in the glass. Serve immediately.
Notes
- The orange simple syrup yields enough for approximately 16 cocktails.
