A couple weeks ago I posted this Raspberry Smoothie Bowl recipe on Instagram after I whipped it up for a mid-day snack. Later I realized that I should probably go ahead and post it on the blog for everyone.
However, I really do love a good smoothie bowl because they are incredibly satisfying and a fun way to incorporate a lot of nutrients in to one dish.
Although a lot of smoothie bowls use Acai as the base I decided to switch things up and make one with raspberry. Really love how tart raspberries are and they are fairly low in sugar. Personally, for a mid-day snack I prefer to not have a major sugar crash.
To be honest, I always consider smoothie bowl recipes to be a template because you can easily switch out ingredients and toppings for your favorite items.
My favorite new addition though is that Dr. Cowan’s Beet Powder because It is a combination of THREE different beets – Detroit Red, Chiogga and Golden.
Dr. Cowan’s Beet Powder is incredibly sweet and highly nutritious. One teaspoon of this powder is a large serving of vegetables. If you are looking to add some more nutrients to your dishes I highly recommend these powders! P.S – this is the same powder I use in my Chocolate Beet Cup recipe.
So next time you have that mid-day ice cream craving (surely I am not the only one) I would recommend throwing together a nutritious smoothie bowl instead!
- 1.5 cup frozen raspberries
- ½ frozen banana
- ½ cup coconut milk
- ½ tsp camu camu (optional)
- 2 Tbsp collagen protein (or protein of choice)
- 1 Tbsp MCT oil (optional)
- 1 tsp Dr. Cowan’s Three-Beet Powder
- 3–4 cubes of ice
- Cacao nibs
- Chia seeds
- A little more beet powder
- Add all of the smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth but still thick. Top with your favorite bowl toppings or the ones listed above.
